Combining toughness, athleticism, character and leadership, Steve Young has established himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. With a career rating of 96.4, he stands as the most accurate passer in the 79 year history of the League. Steve is one of the few NFL quarterbacks who can win games with his running as well as with his arm. He is one of the most popular athletes in professional sports, with a reputation of being a winner as evidenced by his .730 regular winning percentage.
Steve was an All-American and Heisman Trophy runner-up at Brigham Young University in 1983. He set a record for the highest season passing percentage in NCAA history. Young was selected in the first round of the 1984 USFL Draft by the Los Angeles Express. Steve then signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985, starting the last five games of the season. Young was acquired in 1987 by the San Francisco 49ers where he studied under the master, Joe Montana. By 1994, Steve led the 49ers to the Super Bowl title and was voted MVP of Super Bowl XXIX. He holds team career records for completion percentage and quarterback ratings. By the time he is done Steve Young will probably own every 49er passing record, surpassing even the great Montana.
