The author describes her experiences during the Holocaust between the ages of five and nine, in Amsterdam, as a prisoner in the Westerbork and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps, and eventually in the United States.Born in Amsterdam in 1935, Suzanne Mehler Whiteley saw war through a child's eyes. Her memoir, written in the voice of a young girl, describes the years before the invasion of Holland, her experiences during the German occupation and the years leading up to her eventual emigration to the USA.
