Pridi Banomyong held various ministerial positions in Thai governments from 1933 and 1947, including leading the Free Thai Movement in its resistance to the Japanese during World War II. Forced to flee in a coup d'etat in 1947, Banomyong attempted a counter coup two years later, was defeated, and banished from Thailand for life. This play describes the events that took place in 1932, when Banomyong and a group of officials, officers, and citizens conducted a coup against the authoritarian leadership and transformed the country from an absolute to a democratic, constitutional monarchy.
