In 1826 Zarafa, a beautiful and subtly marked Masai giraffe, was presented to Charles X by the Viceroy of Egypt. Captivated by this intriguing animal, people from Marseilles to Paris became united in a new-found mode too often neglected. This is the start of Zarafamania for 1998.In 1826 Zarafa, a Masai giraffe, was presented to Charles X of France by the Viceroy of Egypt.
